Ready for your newest obsession? This magical drink will have you cheating on your morning cup of coffee whether you like it or not! It’s super easy to make and the health benefits are endless:
- decreases inflammation and pain caused by arthritis
- detoxifies the liver
- boosts blood circulation while thinning blood
- boosts brain function by promoting healthy cell function
- soothes the digestive system and ease acid reflux
- prevents some cancers
It’s called “Golden Milk” or “Turmeric Boost” and it is a powder that contains turmeric and pepper as well as other additional spices. I add this every morning to a glass of nut-milk (warmed up via espresso machine). I am OBSESSED with Silks Almond Protein milk! It’s low calorie and contains added protein which ALSO makes this a perfect post-workout drink if you exercise early in the morning like I do! After drinking this everyday, I’ve felt:
- More centered and calm
- More energized
- Better digestion
- Less achey after working out
In addition, I have been told that eating something high in fat increases the benefits reaped from drinking golden milk. So what I like to do is add 1 teaspoon of coconut oil or ghee and sometimes 1 teaspoon of honey that we get from our own honey bees! Here is the recipe below:
- 1 cup of almond milk (hemp or coconut are also good options)
- 1 teaspoon coconut oil or Ghee
- 1 tablespoon of “Golden Milk” or “Turmeric Boost”
Combine ingredients and warm it up just before you start to see it boil.
Chia seeds are known as a “whole grain” food, and despite their tiny size, chia seeds are among the most top super-foods on the planet. They are loaded with fiber, protein, Omega-3 fatty acids and various nutrients. It’s simple, affordable, filling and super easy to make.
- 2 bananas
- 2 cups coconut milk
- 1/4 cup Maple syrup
- 3/4 tsp Cinnamon, ground
- 1 tsp Vanilla extract, natural
- 1/4 cup Chia seeds
- 2 tbsp Coconut
- Combine all the ingredients in a blender. Blend on low until all ingredients are well mixed.
- Pour into glass jars.
- Place in fridge for about an hour.
- Chia seeds will expand and turn into pudding the consistency of applesauce (it won’t get really thick if you put enough coconut milk).
- Serve cold with sliced fruit or toasted nuts.

Acai has been known to be the secret super berry of the Amazon. Here’s why:
- Better sex
- Healthier Heart
- Clears skin
- Helps digestion
- Boots immunity
Acai has been known to increase energy, stamina and blood circulation. You can guess where this is leading, but what a great cocktail for a fun night out.
Good for the heart
As mentioned above, acai berries have been known to stimulate blood circulation, prevent blood clots and relax blood vessels similar to that of red wine. This is because acai is high in anthocyanins which lower cholesterol and contain plant sterols which stimulate the cardiovascular system.
Taken internally, the berries provide the skin with a natural glow, but if applied externally, acai’s antioxidant properties have contributed to healing skin conditions such as acne and discoloration. No wonder why so many skin care products contain acai oil!
Acai has high levels of natural fiber and it relieves both constipation and diarrhea by making bowel movements more regular and adding more bulk to the stool.
Immune Booster and Cancer Preventer
Acai has been known to boost the immune system by protecting the cellular system against the invasion of free radicals. A study also found that acai contains polyphenolic compounds which slow the growth of cancer by 50-80% and stop the process of carcinogenesis on a molecular level.
**Only buy organic acai. The benefits will be greater as it will contain higher levels of antioxidants and fewer chemicals.**
Maybe we’re getting a little carried away with the pumpkin stuff over here but I really love everything about the weather getting cooler and the smells getting richer. I raved last week about a pumpkin face scrub that was incredible, and then a few days ago I found a Pumpkin Spice Rooibos tea at Trader Joe’s that is one of my favs, and now I’m obsessing over this Pumpkin-Apple breakfast smoothie I found on Pinterest! I’m basically just completely drowning my body in pumpkin at this point, inside and out. Thank GOD this new addiction/ obsession is a healthy one.
This nutritious smoothie is made with a pinch of pumpkin pie spice and will keep you full for hours! It tastes like a dessert but its packed full of goodness. Both the apple and oats add lots of fiber and the greek yogurt provides filling protein for even more staying power.
- ¼ cup plus 2 tbsp. old-fashioned oats
- ¼ cup canned pumpkin
- ¾ cup Greek yogurt
- 1 medium apple, cut into pieces (I used honeycrisp and left the skin on)
- ½ banana, sliced and frozen
- ½ cup milk (almond, soy, cow’s, etc. – whatever you prefer)
- ⅛ tsp. pumpkin pie spice
- 6 ice cubes
- Place oats in blender and blend for about 30 seconds until finely chopped. Add remaining ingredients and blend until smooth. Serve immediately.
